Commerce. Some general rules for the purchaser.... The coming Great Recession

"The Golden Rule is,'If a shopkeeper doesn't issue you with a receipt,it means he is cheating both the taxman and yourself.' You can't prove that you paid for the item and sooner or later,he intends to have you arrested or beaten up on the way back from the shop"....

..... This is the way of the cross for the average pilgrim...avoid that sort of bast... like the plague or ask for a receipt publicly and affirmatively.....

......

Another rule,

"If a shopkeeper or butcher or grocer tells you his produce is fresh, believe the opposite. As regards the butcher, grocer or other trade emporium (or specialised retailer) the 'fresh' produce has been in storage for at least a week because they are finding good customers hard to attract, and are in danger of going out of business."

Why is this message relevant to my central theme of expropriation by the small or medium shopkeeper?

Because much of Western "added value" is based on overcharging for Third World and developing world products (Marx,"use values").

In a largely post-industrial society such as Britain,a lot of economic activity is accounted for by commerce, commercial exploitation of the unwary and super exploitation at point of sale.

The macro-economic picture

Sooner or later,in a lot of countries at the same time, businesses go bankrupt prodigiously and a great economic recession sets in. Such a recession is coming next year to Europe and the US because of inflationary measures to curb the same phenomenon ten to fourteen years ago.

Obama's Young Dreamers will be the losers.

 .....

Neither America, Britain or Europe can absorb any more foreign goods without economic disturbances and the political reflection, mass abstentions at the ballot box.

Super exploitation

It is a world where the strongest survive. The US as the main player will set the tenor this summer to an unknown extent. It is my belief that Biden's ascent to power represents a shift to a grown-up America.

The end of Ireland's long boom

The IT sector in Ireland is about to disengage and nations and peoples turn inward. Ireland's economic prognosis is very poor. Its middle class funds inflated property prices and the government a half-generous if ineffectual social welfare system with tax revenue pirated from poorer countries. The latter accounts for Ireland's pariah status.

Ireland's recession will bring retraction from social commitments and the re-emergence of a much more powerful current of fascism than in the 1930's because social expectations are much higher.

The Irish media. A sentinel voice?

The proliferation of bum-fluff commentaries and popcorn politics undermine good judgement and rational politics with the effect of postponing sensible economic discussion until Ireland's long boom is reversed and its few achievements written off.

Advice to the shopper

Remember that the shopkeeper is a businessman and doesn't give a damn about you or your kin no more than the publican.

Money is the businessman's god.

Remember that, all of you taken in by florid rhetoric about ethical business practices and the fair trade baloney put about by churches and bosses to hide their blushes at daylight robbery.

Marx's Materialism beats wishy-washy petite bourgeois socialism or Irish small shopkeeper nationalism any day of the week.
